Lagree FAQ: Effectiveness and Results

This post is part of our Lagree FAQ series where we address the most commonly googled questions about Lagree Method.

It is tempting to demand direct answers to complex questions. In the fitness space, many of the most sought-out answers are subjective and highly dependent on the individual. Our goal is not to give you a generic “best guess” response, but to provide proper context around these questions based on our years of experience and education as fitness professionals.

How many days a week should I do Lagree for maximum results?

You should expect some muscle soreness after your first Lagree class that can last up to three days.

Some people get so excited about starting their Lagree routine that they sign up for a studio and immediately book multiple classes. If you have never done Lagree before (or not in a while), it is better to book a single session at first. This will give you time to recover and book a follow-up when the soreness subsides. For tips on faster recovery, you can check out our article on reducing muscle soreness after a Lagree workout. Once you have taken a few classes, your body will recover faster and you can start taking classes on back-to-back days.

Every body is different and many factors (diet, sleep, lifestyle) affect the optimum frequency for your body. We have clients and instructors who take Lagree classes 5 or 6 days a week and others who see great results from 1-2 days per week. Consistency is key to success in any workout routine, but it is also important to listen to your body and allow yourself some days to recover.

How many calories do you burn in a Lagree class?

Many factors contribute to your calorie burn during a workout. Calories are also not a comprehensive measurement of the effectiveness of your workout.

If you set your apple watch or Fitbit to a “pilates” activity before class, it will likely underestimate your calorie burn from a Lagree class because a) Lagree is a higher-intensity workout and b) you will continue to burn calories at a higher rate long after you leave the studio.

Lagree Method founder Sebastian Lagree estimates “an average-sized woman can burn more than 700 calories in a 50-minute class”. Others estimate that you can expect 300-600 calories. Our recommendation is not to focus too heavily on calories. Lagree is an intense for of exercise that builds lean muscle. As you build muscle, your body burns calories at a faster rate.

How long does it take to see results from Lagree?

We have witnessed many incredible transformations at our studio.

Clients who take Lagree class multiple times per week alongside proper diet and sleep generally report visible results in a few weeks. They also feel results before they see them.

You will feel muscle soreness after your very first class as your muscles build back stronger. Subsequent classes might not feel easier, but you will notice significant improvement with each one. You will be able to hold poses longer, maintain better form, and take less breaks. These improvements are only possible when your muscles strengthen and visible results will follow.
